Just A Scrappin' Challenge Glitter and Shine

Hey all! Welcome back to another challenge with the Just A Scrappin' design team. This week we were challenged to make it shine!!

Challenge: Make a card, layout, or project and use lots of glitter to make it shine! Any color goes.

Size: A2 5.5 X 4.25

Cricut Easter Seasonal Cartridge
Gypsy by Cricut
Patterned Paper: DCWV Spring Glitter Stack
Stampin' Up Cardstock: Blushing Bride, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Glitter: Martha Stewart (Brown) Making Memories (Pink)
Stampin' Up Ink: Chocolate Chip
Stampin' Up Punches: Word Window, Modern Label
Ribbon: Details ($1 Tree Brand)
Adhesive: Red Sticky Tape, 2-Way Zig glue pen, Scotch ATG

Gypsy Measurements
Cut Rabbit and Bow @ 3.75

On this card I tried something a little different for using the glitter. I tried using the red sticky tape on the rabbit. For the bow, I used the 2-way glue pen.

As for the results of my experiment....I would not recommend trying it! The glitter does not "seal" onto the project and falls off pretty easily. Not as much on the pink, which was done with the 2-way glue pen. The red sticky tape just ended up leaving a huge mess of glitter on my work station.

The only thing I used the Gypsy to hide on this project was the bunny eye.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out the challenge. Make sure to visit Just A Scrappin' to see other DT members take on this challenge. We would also LOVE to see what you would make. There will be a way to link your project on the Just A Scrappin' Site.

Get out that glitter and create!!!

Cut layers as directed above. On the Green layer, round the corners at the right end only. Left end stays with corners and goes flush with the page. On red layer, use bumpy road border punch on both sides of the strip to create this look.

Punch (2) word window pieces. On one, put the date and on the other the location. Punch (2) modern label punches, out of different color/patterned paper. Layer punches.

There is my project and instructions on how to go about making it. If you have any questions, as always, please don't hesitate to contact me.

I will be one of the DT members that will be giving out blog candy individually. My blog candy is going to be a mystery. What is better than going to your mailbox and getting a good surprise?

Just A Scrappin' "Summer Fun" Blog Hop

Hey all! Hope you are staying cool in all this heat! What better to do on a hot day than to do a blog hop? Little air conditioning, cool drink, a computer and LOTS of inspiration.

The Design Team at Just A Scrappin' is having a blog hop this weekend. I hope you can join us!

What is a blog hop?

A blog hop is where you start at a blog, in this case Just A Scrappin' and you follow a list to go onto the other designers blogs.

Each blog will show you their take on the project.

Some of us, including Just A Scrappin' will be offering blog candy. In order to get blog candy you have to follow the requirements on each of the blogs.

What is blog candy, you ask???
It is FREE goodies!! Some may tell you what it is, and others may have it be a surprise.

I hope you can take some time out of your summer fun to join us!!

Challenge #12 Just A Scrappin' -- Vacation Time

Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a great week.

We have a super fun challenge going on over at Just A Scrappin' this week and we hope you will join us!

The challenge is to make a card, layout or project with the theme of "Vacation Time". Make something that has to do with your vacation. Ok. Sounds simple right?!? This week we are giving you an extra challenge of only working with these four colors: Blue, White, Green and Brown!!!

Here is my take on the challenge:

Size: 12 X 12

Going Places Cricut Cartridge
Summer Vacation Cricut Cartridge
Gypsy by Cricut
Patterned Paper: Target $1 Paper pack
Stampin' Up Cardstock: Whisper White, Bermuda Bay (retired)
Stampin' Up: Basic Black Stampin' Write Journaler
Stampin' Up Ribbon: Chocolate Chip 1/4" Grosgrain
Brads: American Crafts - Chestnut Brown
Other: Tim Holtz Mini Stapler
Adhesive: Tombow Mono Adhesive - Permanent; Scotch ATG

Gypsy Measurements
Car: 5.15w X 2.76h (Summer Vacation)
"Are we there yet?": 4.32w X 4.0 (Going Places)
"Are we there yet?" (Shadow) 4.49w X 4.0h (Going Places)

On the car cut, I did delete the tires, copy the image and delete the car from that image on the Gypsy to be able to conserve paper where I wanted each image in a different color.

Well, there you go! I really hope to see what you can do over at Just A Scrappin'. Don't forget for everyone that enters in the month, they get an entry into some blog candy!! Who doesn't love free goodies?

I also want to take a minute to remind you we have our blog hop coming up this weekend. It is a Summer Fun blog hop. I will let you in on a little secret.....there will be blog candy!

Make sure to come back tomorrow and I will have more information for you to "HOP" along with the Just A Scrappin' DT! Be there or be square :)

Birthday Cards

Hello all! My dad requested a couple of birthday cards for two of his friends.

The first request was for one with the US Marine Corps Emblem.

Here is my take:

Size: 4 7/8 X 4 7/8

Stand and Salute Cricut Cartridge
DoodleType Cricut Cartridge
Core'Dinations: Scarlet, Marine Blue, Scattered Straw
Stampin' Up: Whisper White, Basic Black
Stampin' Up Ink: Not Quite Navy
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper, Birthday Crazy
Adhesive: Zig 2-way glue pen, Tombow Mono Adhesive (Permanent), Scotch ATG
Other: Ribbon, Jo Ann

Circle Layers
Scarlet: 3.50
Marine Blue: 4.50
Scattered Straw: 4.60

Gypsy Measurements
Eagle: 1.32w X 1.43h
Anchor/Globe: 2.17w X 2.09h
USMC (Doodletype) 1.0h

There is a sentiment stamped on the inside that says "Birthday Wishes"

The second card was for a card featuring a boat.

Size: 5.5 X 4.25

Going Places Cricut Cartridge
Patterned Paper: Stripes (DCWV); Remainder (My Mind's Eye Everyday Flair Stack)
Stampin' Up: Whisper White, So Saffron
Stampin' Up Ink: Bashful Blue
Stampin' Up Punch: Scallop Border
Sentiment: My Pink Stamper, Birthday Crazy
Adhesive: Tombow Mono Adhesive (Permanent), Scotch ATG

Layer 1: 5 3/8 X 4 1/8
Layer 2: 5 3/8 X 1 3/4

On the inside of this card, there is also the same sentiment "Birthday Wishes".

I hope you enjoy these cards. They had me scratching my head for a couple days. Especially on the USMC one. It's funny how it's so easy if you come up with the idea. If someone gives you the idea, sometimes it seems more complicated :)

Happy Fourth of July!!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe fourth! I wanted to share a layout that I made. I know, I don't usually make layouts...thought I would change it up a bit.

This layout is being enter into the Just A Scrappin' Challenge 11 and My Craft Spot Monday Challenge #62.

Size: 12 X 12

Core'dinations Cardstock: Scarlet
DCWV: All patterned papers
Stampin' Up: Night of Navy journaling block
K&Company: Americana adhesive border
Walmart: 3D Stickers
EK Success: Medium corner rounder**
Adhesive: Scotch ATG, Tombow Mono Adhesive (Permanent)

Page Layers
Base: (Scarlet) 12 X 12
1st Layer: (Red PP) 11.25 X 11.25
2nd Layer: (PP with wording) 10.5 X 5.5
3rd Layer: (Star Paper) 8 X 8
Photo Mounts: (Cream/Red PP) 4 X 6
Journaling Block (SU ) 4 X 4

I had ALOT of fun making this layout! It was a real challenge for me since I didn't use my Cricut at all. It was "old-fashioned" scrapping at its best.

** All corners are rounded with the exception of the base layer.
